Follow Van Gogh’s footsteps in London!

NEW YORK CITY and CAIRO—15th November 2011—Past Preservers and Crimson Bamboo LLC announced today the launch of their new Rama tour Van Gogh in London that takes you on a journey exploring the dramatic effect London had on the artist.

“Van Gogh wanted people to simply share his mind and his eyes”, says tour author Samuel Ali, “to see the unstable tangle of tragedy and beauty that he found in the world. He has no message, only an invitation – ‘share with me my view for a moment’.” Through retracing the moments and events of his life, Ali allows the reader to edge closer to Vincent van Gogh’s view of the world.

Law graduate Ali shares his passion for art, history and literature with a Rama tour that explores Van Gogh’s life before he became an artist. He spent most of his early twenties in England where it seemed he had everything to succeed; influential family and artist contacts in the industry, a deep fascination for art and a circle of friends who shared his passion. Yet London was where this career was lost. Following what has been described as a breakdown, Van Gogh was to return to England from a spell in Paris. By then, however, he had given himself to a fervent religious pull that drew him away from his career in the commercial art world of London.

“Samuel Ali highlights the great paradox of Van Gogh’s artistic career”, explains Michael Carroll, co-founder of Crimson Bamboo, “that although he left London unable to continue his career as an art dealer, it was a crucial period in which he developed his artistic sensibilities and awareness of the world around him.”

Rama can be downloaded at http://bit.ly/iTunesRama and was named as one of the ten best new travel apps by BBC Travel in 2010. Author info packs can be requested by writing to info@pastpreservers.com.
